New – Fused glass mandala course.

Come and find some inner calmness and allow your creativity out. A day of relaxation and artistic flow. Jackie will share some of her relaxation and energising techniques with you whilst giving you the opportunity to make a beautiful fused glass mandala.

What is a mandala? It is something often associated with eastern traditions but is also present in western ones. It is a symbolic picture used in meditation. In the simplest form it is a circle and the word mandala is actually Sanskrit for disc. The aim of meditation with a mandala is to re-orientate your focus to self-awareness, wisdom and compassion.

North Somerset Arts week 1st – 10 May 2009

What a fantastic response Jackie received. A big thank you to all of you who visited her studio, your support and encouragement was greatly appreciated. Jackie was overwhelmed by the positive responses she received.

“There is nothing more amazing than hearing someone go ‘wow’ as they come round the corner and see my sculptures outside”.

The Great Create at Agatha Christie’s House

Jackie’s work was accepted for this garden exhibition and the standard of work exhibited this year was extremely high. Visitors were in the thousands due to Agatha Christie’s House - Greenway being opened following extensive restorations. This was a beautiful location just set back from the river Dart.

Glass artist’s reunion

What a surprise, joy and privilege to have 3 of Jackie’s best friends with whom she studied at Swansea Institute join her at her workshop. Picture: left to right – Jackie, Natasha, Sigrid, Shane. They had a week of inspiration and sharing of technical skills and experience during North Somerset Arts Week. They are all practicing glass artists with such varying skills and preferred ways of working.

Professional Sharing: Painting with light

Above contemporary glass fusing overlaid with traditional painting techniques.by S.Grincell

This was lead by Sigrid Blekastad from Norway.

She ran a workshop on how to use the Bullseye fused glass system as a way of producing a colour canvas which is then painted onto in the traditional manner as seen in church windows.
